Chartwells will be implementing a light price increase in for January on some of our items.

Elementary/Middle meal price will be going from $6.25 to $6.50.

High Schools meal price will be going from $7.25 to $7.50.

Anglophone west is still at a lower price point than the rest of NB and Atlantic Canada.

Unfortunately, with cost of goods continually increasing, our prices need to reflect the increase. We have delayed increased in AWSD for as long as possible since we know this causes upset.

The inflation detail and reasoning for this increase is explained below.

The most recent inflation release published in November of 2024, year over year comparisons indicate the following increases:

  • CPI for food from November 2022 to November 2023 at 5.7%,
  • Food purchased from restaurants is 5.1%
  • Food purchased from stores is 5.9%

This price adjustment comes because of multiple factors that will continue to affect our business into 2024.  These include:

  • Aggressive product cost increase
  • Labor shortages and fast rising wages, 7.3% increase in minimum wage in April 2023
  • Major supply chain disruptions and climate impacts
  • Guest volume instability, new patterns
  • Global unrest

Cost of goods and labor cost increases directly impact our service and pricing.

We thank you for your understanding and continued partnership and look forward to a successful 2024.
