| Prepare for the Cold Weather
As winter settles in, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold temperatures. Our students go outside for Gym class 2-3 times a week, along with morning and lunch recesses. Students will be outdoors unless it is raining or the temperature drops below -20°C. Tip: It’s a great idea to pack extra warm clothing in your child’s bag and, as always, remember to label everything!
Please ensure your student has a change of clothes in their backpack, this will prevent the school from calling if your student gets wet playing outside at recess, etc.
There will be a Valentine’s Dance, Friday, February 14, after recess. We will charge an admission fee of $1 to help raise funds for The Kindness Club’s community outreach initiatives.
LINDSAY VALLEY WINTER WELLNESS FIELD TRIP Dear Parents/Guardians, On Wednesday, February 19th, Hubbard will be going to CFB Gagetown’s Lindsay Valley to enjoy a full day of outdoor winter wellness. Weather permitting, students will have the opportunity to go on a guided nature walk, learn about orienteering, snow shoeing and sliding. (Should weather not cooperate, our trip will be rescheduled for the following day, Thursday, February 20th). Busses will leave the school by 9:45 am and will return at approximately 1:45 pm. Parents are more than welcome to join us at the hill for a fun day of outdoor learning! It is imperative that your child be properly dressed to be outside for most of the day. Dressing in layers, along with all appropriate outdoor winter clothing is required. A change of dry clothes, extra socks and mittens/gloves, tied in a plastic bag, are also recommended. Your child will also require a packed lunch, snacks and enough water for the day. ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: SLIDING: Students will require their own sleds to be dropped off at school prior to departure, as they cannot be taken on the bus. PLEASE REMEMBER TO LABEL YOUR CHILD’S SLED AND HELMET. PLEASE NOTE GT RACERS or TRIPLE BLADE STYLE SLIDERS ARE NOT PERMITTED, NO SAUCERS, NO INNER TUBES NOR EQUIPMENT WITH JAGGED EDGES ARE ALSO NOT PERMITTED. HELMETS MUST BE WORN WHEN SLIDING. End-of-Day Changes – How to Communicate
If there are any last-minute changes to your child’s routine at the end of the day, please send a written note to the teacher in the morning. If this isn’t possible, call the admin assistants before 2:00 PM M-T & 11:30 F. In such cases, you will need to enter the building to pick up your child. Please note: Teachers do not check email during instructional hours, so avoid sending email requests for changes.
